History of Heartland Care Center
In the early 1990s, the community of Marcus saw a need for nursing care in the senior living community. From 1990-1995, over 600 supporters donated in excess of $1 million for the construction and operation of Heartland Care Center. The sole purpose of the facility is to serve the residents and their families with outstanding nursing care, quality staff, and a home-like atmosphere for everyone. The supporters of this facility gave their time, effort, money, and dedication to make a successful building. The facility opened its doors in August of 1994.
On August 1st of 2023, Heartland Care Center signed a letter of intent to be affiliate with Cherokee Regional Medical Center, a non-profit health care organization providing services in Cherokee County and surrounding area. Together with other health care organization affiliates such as Cherokee Main Street Pharmacy, Cherokee Fitness Center, and The Beck; the strength in resources, staffing, and quality care emerged. Heartland Care Center still has a Board of Directors that meets monthly to oversee the management of the facility.
We want to thank the community of Marcus for recognizing the need and pursued the dream until it became a reality. That dream/passion for commitment continues today in the form of volunteerism that enhances our residents’ lives.
